Background
Scalextric have not designed any digital sensors that can be used for Pit lane car detection. When the original C7030 6 car Powerbase was plentiful it was possible to modify and use them, but it was still difficult, expensive and not that satisfactory. So on the launch of the C7041 Scalextric Pit Lane Game we decided that it was a good basis for becoming the solution for providing in and out ID information to support the Race Management Programs available. It offered an easier lower cost solution, requiring us to reprogram the processor from scratch and adding an additional sensor plus an external interface for connection to a PC or laptop.
Introduction
Pit-Pro is created by re-programming the Pit Lane Game’s 16F716 PIC microcontroller. It provides Pit IN detection and communicates this information via an Aux style connection to a PC. SSDC from Andy Wallace has options for Pit-Pro and will recognise this data, as will PCLapcounter and RCS64.
Pit-Pro also uses its lights to display the fuel level for each car, and the Large Red and Green Lights to indicate the Race Condition. In SSDC the lights are even used for a race start count down, and in PCLapcounter they are used to indicate that a car has incurred a penalty drive through. All features are at the control of the software package, hence will change as the programs develop.
The Super De-Luxe version has two straights with sensors. When you connect BOTH straights it disables the tower sensor which means the tower can be placed anywhere in the pit lane or circuit.

Warning
All Scalextric products / products we sell are intended for indoor use only.
If the electric motor in the car is jammed, remove the car from the track and let it cool down.
Do not touch the motor casing
The transformer is not a toy. It is a "Transformer for Toys". Before use, check that the transformer is the correct voltage for your mains electricity supply. This product should only be used with the transformer for toys included in this set. The transformer should be examined regularly for damage to the casing, plug pins and cables. In the event of such damage, the set should not be used until the transformer is replaced with a new Hornby recommended unit. Never attempt to open the transformer yourself.
Scalextric sets must not be connected to more than the recommended number of power supplies. The output terminals of the transformer must not be connected directly, or indirectly, to the output of any other AC circuit derived from a transformer or mains power supply. Use only as indicated in the instructions. Do not modify or change any part of a set. Modification may damage the set. Use only genuine Scalextric spares and accessories available from us.
Hand controllers may become warm, emit vapour and give off a slight smell. These effects are normal due to the protective coating on internal parts and will disappear after use However, they may return if the trigger is held continuously in a fixed position while racing.
Before cleaning any part, disconnect the transformer from the mains electricity supply.
Do not use liquid for cleaning.
Repairing & Maintenance
When fixing Scalextric cars and tracks, safety is crucial to prevent accidents and damage to the components. Here are some safety tips to follow:
Disconnect Power: Always ensure the track is unplugged and the power is turned off before you start working on the cars or track to avoid electrical shocks.
Use Proper Tools: Use appropriate, well-maintained tools designed for small electronic repairs, such as precision screwdrivers, pliers, and soldering irons.
Work in a Clean, Organised Area: Keep your workspace tidy and free from clutter. This reduces the risk of losing small parts and helps avoid accidents.
Handle Components with Care: Handle electronic components, especially chips, with care to avoid static electricity damage. Use anti-static wristbands or mats if possible.
Follow Instructions: Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions for any repairs or modifications. Incorrect procedures can damage your Scalextric components.
Soldering Safety: When soldering, work in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes. Use a proper soldering iron stand and always turn off the iron when not in use.
Be cautious of hot soldering irons and molten solder to prevent burns.
Check for Short Circuits: After repairs, check for any potential short circuits in the wiring. This can prevent chips from frying and other electrical issues.
Inspect Components: Regularly inspect cars and tracks for any signs of wear or damage. Replace worn-out parts to ensure the system runs smoothly and safely.
Avoid Overloading: Do not overload the track or cars with excessive power. Stick to the recommended voltage and current ratings to avoid frying chips and other components.
Secure Loose Wires: Ensure all wires are securely connected and insulated properly to prevent accidental short circuits or loose connections that could lead to overheating.
Use Protective Gear: Wear safety glasses when cutting or soldering to protect your eyes from flying debris and solder splashes.
Proper Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation for electronic components, especially chips, to prevent overheating during operation.
Avoid Overheating: Do not operate the cars continuously for long periods without breaks, as this can lead to overheating and damage.
By following these safety tips, you can effectively fix and maintain your Scalextric cars and tracks while minimising the risk of accidents and component damage.
